Area 5. Malvern Wells Area Springs and Wells
Malvern Hills, England
Location: in the garden of Brockhill Close, Hanley Road, Malvern Wells
Description: a stream with an ornamental water feature
This substantial source is on private property lying immediately downslope of Holy Well. The water appears to run to waste, eventually ending up in the River Severn. The water originates as the overflow of a lake in the adjacent higher property in Grundy's Lane, in turn fed by spring water. It then courses down an ornamental streamway through the private garden of Brockhill Close. In 2012 land at the rear of 14 Grundy's Lane was being considered for development and it was pointed out that 40 springs supposedly existed on the site. Springs also existed on adjacent properties including one that flowed beneath a neighbours living room. That was until the property was restyled in the 1980s. [1]
Adjacent to the streamway at Brockhill is a modern water fountain comprising two granite "millstones". This is fed from the streamway when operating, making it an attractive water feature.
